A new wellness solution has been developed to enhance the traveller experience for passengers on long-haul flights.
The Jet Lag Adviser has been developed by Panasonic in collaboration with Detalytics and will be trialled aboard Ethiad flights.
Jet Lag Adviser takes a range of passenger inputs, including chronotype, circadian rhythms, height, weight and travel information like flight times, routes and zones, and using AI to produce a personalised jet lag plan for passengers to reduce jet lag.
Passengers will receive a combination of generic route-based and personalised “jet lag impact scores”, which gives them a summary of how severe jet lag may be on that route while the personalised plan incorporates the pre-flight, flight and post-flight phases.
The personalised plan can then provide a schedule of different recommendations and tips for specific times in each phase of what to do, such as sleep, exposure to light, exercise and the type of food to consume.
Throughout each phase of travel, the adviser will send reminders with recommended actions to passengers.
Etihad Aviation group chief commercial officer Robin Kamark said that the airline was committed to providing a superior experience to guests and this app could provide that.
“With the Jet Lag Adviser, we can now leverage artificial intelligence to improve the travel experience. This will be the first of many wellness initiatives we will explore together, and we are excited about our partnership with Panasonic and the possibilities that lie ahead,” he said.
Panasonic chief executive officer Hideo Nakano said that the tech company was committed to innovating passenger experiences, and wellness was part of that.
“We are delighted to be working with Etihad Airways to introduce technology that can help their passengers reduce jet lag and so enhance their travel experience.”
